Finally a new Justice League Unlimited

It was this past September when the last new episode of Justice League Unlimited aired on Cartoon Network. And while this episode focuses on the Flash with an appearance by Batman, there aren't any real heavy hitters in this episode. But with it being so long since the last new one aired, I'll take anything I can get. Sounds like there are a few of the Flash's Rogues Gallery showing up though and Mark Hamill is reprising his role as The Trickster. He played that part in The Flash television series.

Ultimate Avengers

I'm really looking forward to this movie. I've got every issue of The Ultimates. It's a great book. It's written by Mark Millar and drawn by Bryan Hitch. I wasn't a big fan of Hitch's work a few years ago when he drew for X-Men. Compared to previous artists like Jim Lee, the Kubert brothers and Joe Madureira among others, I just didn't like his style but on The Ultimates, he's the right man for the job.
This movie looks like it's going to be a direct translation of the first run of the book. The animated movie is probably a bit tamer than the book but that's alright.
So I'm planning on buying my copy when it comes out on Feb. 21. It'll probably be better than some of the Marvel movies that have come out lately.

Trade Paperbacks vs. comics

I love comic books. It's that simple. I love the stories, the art, the characters, etc. I've been collecting since 1989, right before Batman premiered in theaters. Though that comic is nowhere near the condition it was when I bought it, I still have it with the rest of my collection. I went on a dry spell for a while in the early to mid 90s but since 2000 or so, I've been a regular collector. During this period I've purchased several trade paperbacks (TPBs). Those are just collections of individual issues put into one book. It's nice for those who jumped into a series starting with #7, he or she can find the TPB containing issues 1 - 6 to get caught up. I even have an entire series in TPB form.
As far as my collecting these days, I purchase both TPBs and individual comics (floppies). TPBs have become more common in the last few years. It's far easier to share TPBs for others to enjoy and I tend to read them more often since they're kept on a shelf with other books versus protected by bags and boards in a box like my floppies. I've linked to a story about making the switch to TPBs.

Satellite radio

I've been an XM subscriber for over a year now. I went with XM over Sirius since XM was the first and at the time offerred the most variety in my opinion. And at the time, they were cheaper per month by 3 bucks but that has since changed. They're the same price now per month. I linked to Orbitcast because of the wealth of information they have about satellite radio as far as the technology, products and programming. They aren't biased towards XM or Sirius, just a huge supporter of the technology in general. So if you're thinking about making the switch to satellite radio, check out Orbitcast for some good info on both services.

What's this VMware you speak of?

Here's a nice blog that gives you news and info about VMWare and what it can do. But some might first be asking, what's VMware? Well it can be a lot of different things. Have you ever wondered how a major software program might run on a certain operating system or maybe your old software needs a different operating system? Well with VMware, you can do that on a single PC or a server. You could be running Linux using VMware on a Windows-based PC. How cool is that? I'm still new to it all but I think the more people know about it, the possibilities are endless.

Google Desktop 3 beta

Google has recently released a new version of their Desktop software. I've used the previous one and have utilized it much. The biggest perk is being able to quickly search for items on my computer including Internet History. A good example is that I ordered something online but didn't print out the confirmation page with the order number so when I wanted to track the item, I did a search for the item I ordered and was able to find it in History thanks to Google. Now I'm probably too trusting of Google by allowing this but I guess I'm willing to take that chance. I'm more leery now that the government is going to be doing data sweeps. But who's to say they weren't already. So anyway, here's the link to the new version.

Jack Black is Nacho Libre

How funny does this look? Jack Black is by far one of my favorite people because he both sings and acts. This movie is directed by Jared Hess whose first movie, Napoleon Dynamite, is a cult fav and it's written by Mike White who wrote the perfect movie for Jack in School of Rock so let's hope he's done it again. I've been a big fan of Jack for many years now. I got the chance to see him and Kyle perform a few years ago. You might now them better as Tenacious D. They've got a movie coming out sometime this year too. Can't wait for that one.

X3 in trouble?

After checking out these pics and the ones on Dark Horizons, I'm not sure if the 3rd X-Men movie will be as good as the 2nd. Just looking at the picture of Colossus makes me think twice about it. He's by far my favorite character in the books and his 3 seconds in X2 was the ultimate fanboy moment for me. His look here doesn't live up to that and his pose for the picture makes him look like a monster, not a superhero. Juggernaut could turn out to be cool but he needs to be wearing his helmet. There is a reason for it as any fan of the book or the 1st movie would know (keep the telepaths like Xavier out). And we'll see what they do with Jean Grey/Phoenix in this one too. I just wish they had Sentinels but still no luck. And I was never a fan of Halle Berry as Storm. So check out the pics and let me know what you think.

We're live...

Thanks for visiting. I hope to post any pertinent news bits that pique my interest in the world of movies, TV, comics and other realms in the world of entertainment and technology. There are a variety of nerds out there who have vices in just one area or any number of areas and hopefully I can address most of them.
